Make a round willow Kindling or Log basket over 5 mornings at Art House South Brent! The size you will achieve will depend upon your experience so a new basket maker can expect to make a kindling basket and a basket maker with some experience could go bigger to a log basket should they wish.

Running from January 23rd - Feb 27 2025. The course runs every Thursday morning except Feb 20th (half term) £140 for 5 sessions plus a materials charge of £10, so £150 in total. Please do ask if you'd prefer to pay in instalments.

The idea is to get together to draw or do your own arty thing in convivial surroundings (so we can also chat, drink and eat nibbles). Bring along; a drink and a snack (if you wish); your own drawing materials; a thing or two, to put on the table to draw if you fancy trying a still life, or you could do your own thing, like work on an ongoing project.

A perfect little basket to make in a day. Just the right size for gathering berries, eggs or mushrooms. Within this workshop you will learn several basketry weaves, honed over the centuries, to create your very own willow basket. There will be opportunity to add your own creative flair using the natural colours of my home grown willow. All willow is included. The next pottery masterclass in the series will be on making tools for surface decoration using found a foraged materials. Participants can bring with them a range of found and foraged materials and we will explore approaches to tying and fixing or otherwise using these items to make a range of tools for mark making.

We will spend the morning constructing these new objects and we will spend the afternoon exploring what marks we can make with them.

We will also carve some prepared clay spheres and cylinders to make rollers and roulettes for printing and mark making in soft clay.

We will start the afternoon by using these new tools with ink and paper and then we will move on to using wet slip on clay slabs and painting with oxides on Porcelain slip.

By the end of the day participants will have a personal selection of new tools to work with which will lead to endless opportunities for further creative discovery.

Every Tuesday afternoon our small group meet and paint together. Some of us "do our own thing" and others paint with a project in mind. Please feel free to join if you like. The first session is free then it's £5 per session or £20 per month. We bring our own materials. You'd be very welcome to join us. Develop your basket making skills

This course will interest those who have made a couple of baskets already and would like to delve deeper and have opportunity to practice in a supportive small group. Each block of 5 weeks will have a basketry theme such as bases, handles or borders which we will focus on to deepen your knowledge and skills. You will be able to complete a small basket over each of the 5 week blocks and should begin to feel more able and confident to choose and influence the design of your baskets.

Individual tutoring on fitting and techniques specific to your own making project.  Achieve professional results and learn how to make the style of clothes you would like to wear.

Suzy Fasht's painting classes for adults of all abilities continue in the Spring term with the optional theme "New Growth". Beginners will be guided through a separate programme within the group setting.

Returners may choose to work on their own projects or use the suggested topic for that term. Topics usually follow a seasonal theme based around still life, landscape or a more abstract approach. Session 1 usually consists of guided warm up exercises to bring new ideas. 

​You will need to bring your own materials although there are some to borrow. If you are new to painting you can wait until the first session to discuss the best materials to buy. 

Weekly classes are in six week blocks etiher side of half term and are on Tuesday and Friday mornings. There is now an extra class on Tuesday afternoons to accommodate newer students.

These after school sessions will give the children a chance to explore different aspects of printmaking in a welcoming environment. We will experiment with various processes and materials and have the opportunity to develop ideas over the term. This is a fun class with the chance to enjoy the process and make fabulous prints along the way. For ages 8+
